Erik  Ten Hag Celebrates Man United’s Spectacular 7-0 Triumph Over Barnsley

Manchester, England – Erik ten Hag celebrated a “perfect night” as Manchester United demolished Barnsley 7-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Christian Eriksen each netted twice, while Antony scored from the penalty spot, marking Ten Hag’s most significant victory to date.

This win is United’s largest margin since their 9-0 triumph over Southampton in February 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“For the team, this is the perfect night,” Ten Hag remarked. “We executed our plan flawlessly, advanced to the next round, scored fantastic goals, entertained the fans, and refined our game model. We’re delighted.”

Ten Hag rotated his squad against League One’s Barnsley, making eight changes from the team that defeated Southampton 3-0 on Saturday.

Rashford, one of the three players who retained their spot, followed up his weekend goal with another two.

It was the first time the England forward scored more than once in a game since his double in a 3-0 win over Leicester in February 2023.

Alejandro Garnacho also shone, scoring two of the seven goals. “When Rashford scores, it makes things easier for the team,” Ten Hag said. “Having a reliable goal-scorer can be a game-changer. Matches are won in the box.”

United rebounded from their 3-0 loss to Liverpool by scoring 10 goals without conceding against Southampton and Barnsley.
